If you’re new to retinal, start by using it every other night for the first two weeks, applying a small amount (about 0.2 g or a 2 mm-sized drop) to the targeted area only. If irritation occurs, reduce the amount and frequency of use and pair it with a soothing moisturizer to help calm the skin. Always apply sunscreen the morning after use as the final step in your routine to protect against UV damage. Once your skin has adjusted (from week 3), you may begin using retinal every night, applying a moderate amount evenly over the entire face.
